Athletics Global Education Thought Leadership
Women built this place. And the vision of our founder, Sarah Porter, endures not because it has remained static, but because each generation has reimagined what women’s education can be.
Katherine (Kate) G. Windsor, Ed.D., is the 12th head of Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Connecticut. Guided by Porter’s mission, Dr. Windsor centers girls’ learning, leadership and identity to foster a community where all members feel seen, heard and valued.
A career educator with more than 25 years of leadership experience, she previously served as head of The Sage School and director of residential life at Sandy Spring Friends School. She has also taught through programs at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
Dr. Windsor holds a doctorate from University of Pennsylvania, a master’s from the College of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s from the University of Rochester. An internationally recognized leader in girls’ education, she serves as board chair of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls and is a sought-after speaker on leadership, equity and school transformation.
During Dr. Windsor’s tenure, Porter’s has focused on developing women as leaders who will shape a changing world. Simultaneously rooted in tradition and driven by innovation, every leadership decision she makes responds to a singular question: “What do girls need to thrive?” She has built a foundation of academic rigor, global perspective and leadership development, positioning the school as a category of one.
