We’ve developed a step-by-step guide for families applying to Miss Porter’s School. It will walk you through every part of the application and admission process.

How to Apply

Completing an inquiry form is your chance to share information about yourself and your interests. It also allows us to begin communicating with you about the school, upcoming events, and important application information.

Attending a virtual or in-person event is a great way to meet future classmates and teachers and get a feel for our unique campus and community. If you choose to attend an on-campus event, you may also be able to schedule your interview while on campus.

Campus visits are how we learn more about you and what you’re looking for in your high school experience and are an opportunity for you to get to know us. During your visit, you and your family will chat with an admission officer and get a look at our classrooms, facilities and dorms. Visits typically last around two hours and include a personal tour and interview. 

If an in-person visit to campus isn’t feasible, please reach out to our Office of Admission to learn about virtual tour and interview options.

If you do choose to apply to Porter’s (and we hope you do!), you’ll start by creating a Standard Application Online (SAO) account. You’ll submit all application materials through this platform. For a complete list of the materials needed to complete your enrollment application, please review the Application Checklist below. 

Your admission and financial aid applications are both due by January 15.

All applicants will be notified of their admission status and financial aid awards by March 10.

We invite all accepted students to attend a Revisit Day event on our campus or schedule a Shadow Day to gain a deeper understanding of what life and learning are like at Porter’s.

By April 10, all accepted students who wish to enroll at Porter’s must submit their enrollment agreement and tuition deposit.

Application checklist

Please review the checklist below to see what materials you’ll need to submit as part of your application:

Official transcripts

  • Current year
  • Previous two years

Graded paper from current English, history, or humanities class

Three letters of recommendation

  • Current English or humanities teacher
  • Current math teacher
  • Current school principal/head of school, guidance counselor, 
or advisor

Optional: Standardized test scores (e.g., SSAT or ISEE)

Additional requirements for international applicants:

Review our international FAQ and contact the Office of Admission

Demonstrate English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL or Duolingo test results)

If applicable, complete a pre-application language interview through Vericant, an online interview platform
